FUEL

The FUEL program produces over 2,500 lunches each week and delivers them to several local agencies that work with street youth; EXIT Community Outreach, CUPS Community Health Centre, Street Teams and the Calgary Alpha House.

There are approximately 1500 youth under the age of 25 living on Calgary's streets at any given time. Reducing the number of children and youth on the street is dependent on drawing individuals into facilities that provide outreach services, counseling and rehabilitation support for homeless and high-risk youth. The lunches provided through FUEL are an attractive incentive to draw street youth into these organizations and increase their access to programs and alternative choices.

All of the above agencies recognize that proper nourishment is an essential step to full rehabilitation.
