Kids Help Kids - You Can Too!
Solutions for Calgary's hungry kids
Brown Bagging held a one day campaign on October 28th, 2007 to help the almost 30,000 children and youth in Calgary who attend school without adequate nutrition.
We asked school-aged kids to help. They acted. They created
one-of-a-kind masterpieces on what else?
Brown lunch bags. The bags were sold around Calgary on October 28th at Sunterra
Markets and Good Earth Cafes. If kids can do that, imagine what you can do.
The results are inspiring. we only asked
for a minimum donation
of $2.00 per bag and Calgarians weren't satisfied with that.
Thanks to all
Calgarians who donated and, more importantly, took away information on how they
can help hungry children
and youth everyday. Proceeds from the sale of
bags fund
Brown Bagging's ongoing lunch programs
Opening the discussion. Thanks to the school
kids, teachers, principals and parents who helped create the brown bag
masterpieces. The intention behind the bags was to open the discussion on this
issue and they certainly have done that!
If you missed seeing the bags, you can view them in the
Gallery area of this website.
Now the work begins. The awareness is
growing and we can't stop now. October 25th was the first day of our campaign,
but spreading the word about hungry kids will continue. Here's how you can help
- visit the "What You Can Do" area of this web site
to view simple actions you and your family can do anytime. Actions you do help
contribute to solving child hunger in Calgary.
Many thanks to our supporters (seen below) who helped to make our first Kids Help Kids - You Can Too campaign a huge success.
